Behind the Scenes with Flair Dancewear

  1. move rhythmically to music, typically following a set sequence of steps.
  2. (of a person) move in a quick and lively way.
  3. a series of steps and movements that match the speed and rhythm of a piece of music.

There is something so wonderful about finding yourself in the world of dance. Whether it be through mastering a new routine, or learning to portray a character, nothing quite compares to setting foot on a stage for the first time and finally feeling at home. But behind the scenes is a journey most people don’t get to see, one which involves the often-troublesome task of finding the perfect costume, leotard, or shoe. Flair Dancewear Founder Marina Buscaino knows this process all too well. Having struggled to find quality dancewear in Australia she turned to her own devices and from this, Flair Dancewear was born. Today she gives us an inside look into the brand, the vision and the face behind Flair.

What inspired you to start Flair Dancewear?

Flair Dancewear was born out of a frustration with the limit of affordable and age appropriate dance and gymnastics wear in Australia. Three years ago, I started looking for dance costumes for my daughter and found that what I needed was overseas. The quality and prices were great; the shipping fee, not so great. I realised that if I was encountering these fees, then so were many others, so I decided to do some research. I looked into better ways for our kids to have access to a range of performance costumes, dance wear and gymnastics gear and found that if I stocked them myself I could make it easier for so many dancers to find their perfect fit.

What does Flair Dancewear offer and do you have plans to expand the range?

Flair Dancewear has just opened a showroom which is open by appointment 7 days a week. All the great styles are on display and dancers, their parents and teachers are catered for.
